A Language of the Heart

MODULE ZERO - An introduction to Nonviolent Communication

Imagine communicating with ease and kindness.
Imagine doing so without sacrificing your truth.

What would it do to your sense of dignity and self-trust?
How would it impact your relationships at work and home?

“Behind every judgement is an unmet need”

Marshall Rosenberg

Introducing:
Module Zero

This training is designed for individuals new to NVC or those looking to refresh
their understanding of its core concepts.
The training combines theoretical knowledge with demonstrations and practical exercises
to provide not just an understanding but also a beginning integration
of the core concepts of Nonviolent Communication.

Nonviolent Communication (NVC), developed by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, is a powerful process for compassionate connection and action. It is based on the principles of nonviolence—the natural state of compassion when no violence is present in the heart. NVC helps us express ourselves honestly and clearly while rooted in empathy and understanding in our interactions with others.

NVC is far more than a communication protocol; it is a lens through which we understand ourselves and the world around us. It is a direct bridge to connect from heart to heart, and it offers a journey toward radical self-acceptance. Furthermore, NVC sparks hope about a world where every living being matters and where it is possible to resolve conflicts peacefully.

NVC is also called ‘A Language of the Heart.’ It refers to the common experience that as we learn NVC, we find the way to express ourselves we always longed for, with honesty while still in empathic connection with others. It replaces superficial conversations with caring, meaningful exchanges about what matters to us.

More than a way of communication, the power of NVC lies in how regularly practicing it gradually changes our mindset toward ourselves and others. As if given a pair of X-ray glasses, we begin to see the deeper intentions of others and connect with them at a needs level. This approach asks nothing of those we communicate with and offers ease in connecting no matter how we speak to one another.

What you can expect:

  • Discover your life within and acknowledge your own needs and how to meet them in harmony with others.

  • Understand what drives other people and meet them relevantly and compassionately.

  • Increase your capacity to gracefully handle difficult emotions and situations.

  • Build more compassionate relationships personally and professionally.

  • Communicate more effectively, reducing misunderstandings and conflicts.

  • Experience choice where you used to feel stuck

  • Midwife the YOU within you that has been waiting for a chance to manifest

Training Objectives:

  • Empathic Listening: Develop skills to listen with empathy, understanding the deep motivations behind others’ words and actions.

  • Self-Compassion: Cultivate self-compassion to dissolve reactivity and respond from a place of empowerment.

  • Honest Expression: Gain confidence in expressing yourself honestly and respectfully, even in challenging situations.

  • Conflict Resolution: Learn strategies to navigate and resolve conflicts peacefully.

Course Structure:

The training consists of three days of each 6 hours
of virtual, interactive sessions that include:

  • Group Discussions for shared learning and reflection,

  • Role-Plays and Practice implementing NVC techniques in simulated and real life scenarios,

  • Homework Assignments to anchor your learning in everyday situations.

  • The NVC workshop series I participated in was incredibly rewarding and helpful. I found better connections with my children and spouse after participating in the workshop as I developed a better approach to conflict and behaviors surrounding conflict. I also found deep spiritual growth on my NVC journey that allowed for healing of past trauma and pain in finding my voice and feeling empowered to explore feelings and build connections. These skills have helped with my home-life, professional life and personal growth and I am grateful for the work Magdalena does and all that I gained from my work in NVC with her help.
