Needs-based Institute and learn about the Coaching Foundation training.
What is so special about the Training?
Needs-Based Coaching offers a comprehensive approach to supporting others:
We consider every human being as a whole and resourceful being who holds the answers for themselves within
Central in our work is to learn how to approach a regulated state in ourselves; in a balanced, calm, and welcoming presence. We teach how to be space holders for others and cultivate trust and connection
Our toolkit contains best practices from the modalities and approaches we love the most: Nonviolent Communication, Resonant Language, Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal Theory, Social Baseline Theory, and more, in a unique composition.
In Needs-Based Coaching, we focus on identifying and embracing the individual's lived experience, understanding their underlying needs, and connecting with the dream of their heart as a pathway to personal growth and sustainable decisions.
We recognize that human needs, whether aware or not, are fundamental drivers of human behavior and emotional well-being, and coaching becomes a journey of getting familiar with the inner reality as well as navigating the outer landscapes gracefully in accordance with the client’s needs and values.
This is what you get when study with us
3 modules of 3 x 6 hours is the backbone of this training
The journey begins with learning the basics of attuning to another person, setting and holding the frame for a confidential and dedicated space, and how to support the client through conversational techniques and warm presence.
You will learn six different roadmaps to choose from in order to meet different clients and different topics relevantly and respectfully
And we will cover the ethics and boundaries of coaching in order to set you off with confidence on the path awaiting you.
10 Webinars with special focus
Webinars form another pillar of this program. Between modules, they keep you on your learning path and provide new skills through 10 specific topics that add to your coaching palette and feed into your practice.
Topics include: Social identity and coaching across power differences, the neuro-biology of coaching, using metaphors as a shortcut to self-connection, cultivating your intuition, ending sessions with empowerment, framing the coaching conversation through agreements or contracts, and more.
1:1 Peer practice
We ask for your commitment to practice with peers 1-2 hours a week. We match you in regard to time zones and you arrange your practice yourselves. During the 2nd half of the training, we encourage you to engage with external clients and build your personal experience while having support in the learning community. Throughout your endevour as a student in this program, the step-by-step approach ensures you learn and practice the necessary skills when you need them.
7-hours of group mentoring
To further your learning, six hours of group mentoring is included in the program. In groups of up to seven students, you will coach and receive feedback from your mentor. Not only does mentoring solidify and deepen your coaching skills, it counts towards accreditation with the International Coach Federation.
Support
Your growing into becoming a Needs-Based Coach matters to us. We are here to support you on your learning journey, whether a force majeure hits your life or your learning style asks for cultivation other than what is being offered. Reach out and let’s connect.

A community of like-minded people
You are not alone in this program! We walk each other into the skills and mindset of Needs-Based coaches, and former students regularly report that they found their new community of friends here.
Who are we?
How dreams come true
Pernille is the Lead Trainer of the Foundation Training. Some of the webinars will be hosted partly by other experienced coaches of the faculty.
So many people are lost these times. Feeling helpless in the face of wars, climate breakdown, and inequality in the world. They hope for change and want to participate in it but do not know how to be efficient and have integrity with their beliefs.
What can be done to infuse people and communities with aliveness, inspiration, and courage to do things differently tomorrow? So that we change the course of where we’re heading as individuals, communities, and societies?
Needs-based coaches offer practical handles for re-connecting with dreams and longings within, identifying the good reasons people have for holding themselves back, and cultivating trust and agency, which lead to courageous shifts in the inner and outer life. Shifts that ripples to more people stepping up for what matters to them.
We offer this education because we care about our world and the generations to come, and we believe this is our most potent contribution toward a world our hearts would recognize as beautiful.

FAQ
-
Personal connection between facilitators and students is an important component to grow your self-trust as a coach. Thus, there will be no more than 30 students in our training. The personal knowledge and affinity for one another ensures a safe learning environment and offers community.
Graduates are invited to stay connected in a larger circle.
-
Nope! This workshop is beginner-friendly. Whether you're new to coaching or already supporting others in your work, you'll find tools and insights you can use right away.
-
Not at all. Needs-Based Coaching is about supporting others through conversation, not diagnosing or treating. It’s a great complement to therapeutic or social work, but it’s not therapy.
-
Coaches partner with their clients and will not present as experts, as we believe the client is the one who knows the answers.
Coaches see their clients as whole and resourceful, moving towards greater expression of their wholeness. Traditionally, psychotherapists see their clients as broken and needing repair.
Some of the processes you’ll learn are also used by psychotherapists. It’s not the process but the approach that differentiates coaching from psychotherapy.
-
Every session will be recorded and made available 24 hours after classes.
To maintain our trustworthiness as coach training institute, we ask students who missed sessions to do a simple home assignment after each class to document they’ve watched the recordings.
-
Yes! You’ll receive a certificate of participation at the end of the workshop, and your training can count toward the portfolio pathway of ACC accreditation as well as certification with the Center for Nonviolent Communication.
-
You’re welcome exactly as you are. The space is designed to be safe, respectful, and supportive. You’ll never be forced to share more than you’re comfortable with.
-
Absolutely. The tools and mindset you’ll learn are practical and ready to use—in conversations with clients, colleagues, or even family.

This question depends on where you live. In some countries, Coach is a protected title, and you need to go through an official accreditation process to call yourself a coach. In other countries, there are no requirements.
After completion of Needs-Based Coaching, we recommend applying for accreditation with the world’s leading coach association, The International Coach Federation (ICF) as this is an internationally approved hallmark of quality.

There are various ways to get accredited with ICF. One of them, the portfolio pathway, works the way that applicants need 60 hours of coach specific training which must be documented thoroughly. Needs-Based Coaching live up to the standard of ‘coach specific training’, and we provide the documentation. There are additional requirements for accreditation; 100 logged coaching hours, 10 mentoring hours, an approved session transcript, and an exam. This counts for the other paths to accreditation as well.
we offer an ICF preparation package once a year to get you ready for it.
